Thank you for visiting Sweere: A Book of Generations

Back in 1998 when I first became interested in tracing my roots I never dreamed of having an actual website to manage all the information I would eventually acquire in the process. What began with a few curious mail exchanges and web searches, quickly evolved into stacks of documents and photos and expanded to computer software programs in an effort to keep track of it all.

My thirst for following even the smallest lead in order to uncover one more piece of the puzzle has not yet been quenched. In the process, I've had the opportunity to communicate with many wonderful people, some related, some not, and at one point there came a suggestion that perhaps a book could be written to include all the data I'd uncovered and gathered so far.

But I have a great-uncle who wrote a book on his line years ago, back when one had to actually travel to find the puzzle pieces. Early on in my research, in his great wisdom, he pointed out to me that his book was outdated the day it was published.

For families are dynamic...and they never stop changing as babies are born, and cousins get married, and brothers go off to fight wars and...you get the picture, right?

Even while an effort is made to write chapters on past generations, new pages are waiting to be composed. In the meantime, my computer has become my most valuable tool of all... since I used it to write, scan pictures, obtain, exchange, and verify information via email, public records and most importantly: to maintain an electronic database of it all.

The creation of a website to bring that information to the public followed naturally, as web content management system programs also evolved to become more dynamic...and each and every cousin deserves a page of his own in the book. Won't you consider donating a few minutes of your time to write a page or two of your own?

While this site is still (and always will be) a work in progress, many long hours of research and web design have gone into creating a virtual home where the story of our family's history, our Book of Generations, can be recorded and shared with others.
